It is a privilege to serve as Principal of Erma Siegel Elementary and work with such committed, innovative and professional individuals. I have been dedicated to serving children for twenty- four years and for the past eleven, I have been blessed to serve as Principal of ESE. Prior to joining Murfreesboro City Schools, I served as a classroom teacher, inner-city coordinator, assistant principal and principal for Metro Nashville Public Schools. I have had the privilege of attending The University of Tennessee, Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-teachers, students and parents-are excited to be here! My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year.
I have been married to Michael Spencer for 24 years and have two children, Hayden and Hannah.
Hello Erma Siegel Students, Parents, and Community!
I have always been driven by a desire to learn and help others. A career in education for me was a perfect blend of both of those passions. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin. I began my career in education in my hometown of Humboldt, TN, where I was a teacher and also served for three years as an elementary school principal. During this time period, I continued my own education by pursuing my Master’s Degree in School Administration and Supervision from Trevecca Nazarene University and my Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Union University.
I moved with my family to Murfreesboro in 2006. Prior to being named as the Assistant Principal here at Erma Siegel, I had the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of capacities at the Murfreesboro City Schools’ district office. While there, I served as the Extended School Programs Supervisor and the Supervisor of Federal Programs and School Support Services. I greatly value my experiences in assisting families with a variety of needs, working with our system attorney in addressing truancy issues, helping parents with concerns, and working with schools by growing parent involvement and utilizing funding to meet needs of those schools.
I have been the Assistant Principal at Erma Siegel since 2015. I love the Siegel family and the community we serve. I have three sons who have also grown up in the Siegel schools. I am forever grateful for the education they have received. On a personal note, I am a big sports fan and enjoy spending time outside. If I’m not at school, you might find me kayaking or at a concert. I’m also a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans, and of course – Siegel!
